A TIME TO BE BORN: Willie Mae Young Vickers, was born to the late Luther R. Young, Sr. and Melvia Cratic Young on August 11, 1940 in Damascus, Georgia. She was educated at Early County School System.
A TIME FOR SALVATION: Georgia Mae as she was affectionately called was a faithful woman of God. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age. She was a devoted and faithful member at Saint Thomas Missionary Baptist Church until she was called home.
A TIME TO LOVE: Georgia Mae met and married the love of her life, Mr. Jimmie Lee Vickers in April 1958 and to their union, three children were born. One of which preceded her in death, Willie Floyd Vickers. Five siblings also preceded her in death, Lela Mae Marshall, Ruby Lee Hallman, Willie Lee Young, Lorenzo Young and John Foster, Jr.
A TIME TO LIVE: Georgia Mae loved gardening, shopping, cooking, fishing, going to softball games and spending time with her family.
A TIME TO DIE: She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 in Attapulgus, Georgia. She leaves not to mourn, but to cherish her memories, her children, Timmy Vickers (Melisha) of Tallahassee, Florida; Sharon Vickers Smith (Charles) of Attapulgus, Georgia; her grandchildren, Sandreka Alford, I’esha Smith, Lakesha Smith, Paul Griffin and Timmy Vickers, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Skylar Pierce, Damon Pierce, Jr., Joshua Vickers, Ryleigh Vickers and Matilyn Vickers; one brother, Luther Young, Jr. (Mattie) of Fort Myers, Florida; two sisters, Joann Jordan (Roscoe) of Fort Myers, Florida and Waver Young of Fort Myers, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Matilda Vickers of Gretna, Florida and Oneatha Foster of Fort Myers, Florida; two close friends, Wilma Porter and Louise Bulger both of Bainbridge, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
