Pastor Peter Rogers

Pastor Peter Rogers was born in Newton, Georgia to the late Edward Boston and Rosa Bell Rogers on May 1, 1953.  On August 20, 2020 at Saint Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida the Lord called him home. Pastor Rogers was a member of Mount Moriah #2 Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School and sang in the choir until the Lord called him into the Ministry. Most recently, he served as Pastor at Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Climax, Georgia and New Salem Free Will Baptist Church, Bainbridge, Georgia. He attended Bainbridge High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army Reserves where he served his country for 22 years. He worked four years at Decatur County Board of Education (Bainbridge, Ga.) as a bus driver. For many years, he served as  a truck driver for Big Bend Supply Company (Cairo, GA) and Spooner Chance (Quincy, FL). Lastly, he worked at Amoco Fabrics & Fiber Company for twenty-two years. He loved preaching and teaching the Word of God, serving the Lord, and being around people. He sang with the Spiritual Wonders of Bainbridge Georgia for many years. On January 15, 1977, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Ann Emanuel. He is survived by a devoted and loving wife: Patricia Rogers; children: Christopher Rogers, Keith Rogers (Frechika) of Killeen, Texas; Hubert Campbell (Shea), Caiaphius Neal, Antonio Williams, Anita Harrold (Bernard), Danaiel Davis, Ashley Benton (Lenorus) all of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren: Niya Rogers, Alecia Rogers both of Killeen, Texas; Deitrick McCoy, Devante Campbell, Jalen Campbell, Caleb Campbell, Hubert Campbell III, Jarvis Campbell, Jeremiah Benton, Journey Benton, Mintoria Neal, Alliyah Rutland, Alexis Rutland, Lomell Lawhorn, A’Reonna Harrold, Francisca Harrold, Antonia Williams, Jr., Terrioun Allen, Aqueriya, D’Marco, Akinsheye, Ladeshia and Ja’Ziya all of Bainbridge, Georgia; great-grandchildren: Nyla Campbell, Kylo Campbell, Jace Thortan, Issiah Good, Jr., Miracle Good, Baron Johnson, Jr., Emahja Sweeten, Savion Makopson, Kassidy, Kaiden, Clifford, Jr., Karter, Akinsheye, Jr. and Kyle all of Bainbridge, Georgia; three brothers: E.B. Boston, William Miller, George Rogers (Myama) six sisters: Louise Ware, Gracie King (Jessie), Mary Hampton, Clifford Arnette, Dora Lee Rogers and Cindy Miller, brothers and sisters-in-law: Bruce Gurley (Sandra), Calvin Davis (Terri), Shirley Ann Rogers, Rose Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
