Deacon Oddis Smith was born December 19, 1960, in Decatur County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Smith. Oddis grew up in a small town known as Attapulgus, Georgia. He peacefully departed from this life on Monday, October 19, 2020. He attended Decatur County School and graduated from Bainbridge High School in the Class of 1979. He worked at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers for over 35 years. He was currently an employee at Decatur County Prison where he worked for 10 years. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful servant. He was a member and served as a Deacon at New Harvest Outreach Ministry under the Pastoral Leadership of Bishop James E. Hamilton. Deacon Oddis Smith was a Mason member of Oak City Lodge #74 Bainbridge, Georgia. Deacon Oddis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eddie and Betty Smith; four sisters: Mary Smith, Margaret Smith, Rosa Smith, Thelma Tolbert; two brothers: Thomas Boose Smith and Harrison Smith. Deacon Oddis leaves behind a devoted loving wife, Jacquelyn Smith whom he loved and cherished deeply; one son: Oddis Smith Jr. (Catia); two daughters: Temetris and Shaquandra Porter; six grandchildren: Jaylah, Tykie, Trenyce, Samiya, Malaya and Samuel; five sisters: Alice Smith, Geraldine Smith, Louise Marshall, Emma McGriff (Earl) all of Attapulgus, GA; Laura Tolbert of Valdosta, GA; two brothers: Eddie Smith Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; Lawarence Smith of Attapulgus, GA; one uncle: Eli Butler of Greenville, FL; thirteen sisters-in-law: Wilma Young Smith of Fort Myers, FL; Brenda Johnson, Angela Porter, Sebrenia Troutman (William), Pamela Porter, Bernice Jackson (Lorenzo), Anissa Taylor, Yalonda Evan (Phillip), Bridges Brown, Chiffonda Mcfadden (Ronnie), Chandra Fate (Scottie), Phyllis Porter and Margaret Porter all of Bainbridge, GA; four brothers-in-law: Ronnie Porter (Emma), Dexter Price (Lisa), Griffin Porter (Penny) and Joshua Porter all of Bainbridge, GA: special mother-in-law: Wilma Porter of Bainbridge, GA; special friends: Andre Conner of Attapulgus, GA and Captain Greg Jones of Bainbridge, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
