Brother Mark Elliot Beard affectionately known as “Weird Beard” departed this life on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at his home in Cairo, Georgia. Born to the late Johnny Lee Beard and Bessie Lee Thomas in Bainbridge, Georgia. Mark was the baby boy of seven children. At a young age, Mark joined Saint Thomas Missionary Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend John H. Wooden, where he was a member until his death. Mark attended West Bainbridge Elementary School and onto West Bainbridge Middle School and Bainbridge High School. He later worked on the farm, Shaw Industries, the railroad and before his illness the solar company. Mark was a good brother, cousin and friend that will be forever remembered by all. He loved to be with family trying to make everyone laugh. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Katherine Denise Beard and Reginald Tolbert. He is survived by his mother, Bessie Thomas of Cairo, Georgia; ten siblings: Teresa Tyler (Master) of Jacksonville, FL; Willie ‘Bill’ Thomas (China) of Miami, FL; Daniel Beard (Josette) of Attapulgus, GA; Renee Worthy (Eric) of Bainbridge, GA; Naetasha Malone (Chris), Shmyracy ‘Deena’ Hodge (Walter) of Bainbridge, GA; Kelvin Beard (Lolita) of Columbus, OH; Felicia Beard Tyler of Jacksonville, FL; Melissa Beard of Cairo, GA; Quanda Johnson (Anthony) of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who he treated as brothers, Bam, Sam, Eric and Chris.
