As we all can see Laureen left many behind to carry on her lessons, recipes
and memories. Not to mention all the grandchildren, extended family and
friends; this list will go on for hours and if we all knew Peanut, Nana or
Laureen, she would not want us here reading an entire list of names
without explaining who she was personally and the lessons she has
passed on to all of us and the future generations so that they can succeed
and reach for the stars.
One of her trials and lessons she left for us is to have an infectious

personality; to laugh and dance senselessly. Laureen's joy didn't just come
from her smile but a very distinctive laugh that made every joke blossom into a
memory and moment we cannot forget. There will never be another laugh
quite like hers. If you every just needed a person to talk to, to either kill time,
have company while traveling or just talk she would always answer her phone
even though new technology annoyed her. She would always listen to
whatever you needed to say no matter how long or short the call may be. She
was always there, a true pillar for our family.
Laureen was the life of the party whether it was playing games, singing off
tune or dancing; we all knew Peanut was there. She would sing along to the
Oldies and bump to the new music.. if she didn't know the words she would
sing her signature line of 'Um-ah-Um-ah'; curse you out to some DMX or tell
Frank he is terrible at Taboo.
Laureen stood on business. She took no disrespect from anyone and had no
issue putting her stocking cap on and Timbs to hand out L's to whomever it
was. That same energy followed her into her teaching habits. She liked to
claim that she was not the brightest apple but that she could spell and solve
crosswords in her sleep, crush everyone in Scrabble and out buy you in
Monopoly. Her aggression and belittling of herself would fuel you to do better
but if you slipped up you would see the nut Crack and you would have no
choice but to do better.
She was a horror, Sci-Fi and fantasy fanatic. She would enjoy children's
cartoons with or without the grandchildren. Everything watched or read was
in interest so that the youth could be diverse and imaginative. Whether you
chose to be a doctor, writer, astronaut or warrior, she would motivate you and
you would not know you were being influenced.
Infectious, influence and about her business were methods only she could do.
Laureen worked in an odd and mysterious way to get what she wanted. She
taught us that your goals are attainable and that there is more than one way to
get your point across. Those left behind have been instilled with these traits
for future generations to come.
It goes without saying that we are all born with flaws. But our flaws are the
lesson to the future to learn from others and day by day to seek self
improvement and growth.
Don't mourn my loss but Celebrate my Life and my memory. Share in my joy
and laughter and follow your dreams for they are my dreams as well.. Stand on
your business and run full force to reach where your dream takes you. Scream
like Xena and Shake the World in all endeavors you chase.
