Joyce was born on January 2, 1948, and throughout her life, she was a devout Christian and a beloved musician in our city, known for her unwavering devotion to God and her community. Joyce's journey began in the Decatur County school system, where she received her early education. Her passion for learning and helping others led her to pursue higher education, ultimately earning a college degree. This academic achievement laid the foundation for her career as a Paraprofessional, a role in which she found her true calling. For over 20 years, Joyce dedicated herself to serving the students and staff at Rickards High School in Leon County, Florida. Her compassion, care, and unwavering commitment to her profession made her an integral part of the school community. Joyce retired, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that touched countless lives. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength, and her impact will be remembered for generations to come. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ola Bell and Willie McClendon, as well as her dear siblings, Willie Bell Goode, Otho McClendon, Lindberg McClendon, Ezell "Jack" McClendon, and Gus McClendon. Though they have gone before her, their memories continue to live on through Joyce’s enduring legacy. She often spoke fondly of her family, cherishing the values and lessons they instilled in her. She leaves behind her sons, Joseph Young Jr. (Jennifer) and Corey Young (Shemila), who will forever cherish her memory. Joyce was also a cherished grandmother to Joseph Young III, Laila Young, Katrice Young, Caleb Young, Queen Rashed, Nya Williams, and Jerry Watkins III. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she found great joy in their laughter, achievements, and the special moments they shared. Joyce’s love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she leaves behind a legacy of warmth and affection that they will carry with them always. Joyce and Joseph Young, Sr., the father of her children, shared a special relationship characterized by mutual respect and a deep connection that endured over the years. Their bond was a testament to the love and commitment they had for their family. Joyce’s ability to maintain strong, loving relationships with those around her was a reflection of her generous and compassionate nature. Joyce was a woman of many hobbies and passions. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing the piano, reading, cooking, fishing, and listening to good gospel music. In addition to her immediate family, Joyce leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-daughters, god-sons and special friends who will continue to honor her memory. Her extended family and friends were a vital part of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with each of them. Joyce’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on their hearts. Her home was always open, and her heart was always full, offering love and support to those in need.
