Jo Ann Gaines

Jo Ann Gaines was the daughter of the late Mrs. Louise McGriff Gaines and the late
Mr. Johnny Gaines, Sr. Joann was born in Mitchell County on August 14, 1948. She
was married to the late Herbert Bell.
Jo Ann was a member of New Messiah Baptist Church where she was the choir
director and sang in the choir as well. She was employed for many years at Thompson
Electric Company and then Georgia Palm Beach. Later, she worked at Amoco Fabrics
and Fibers Company as a security guard.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her grandchildren: Destiney Giddens, Elijah
Giddens, Jr, and Austen, two sisters, Lula Mae Burke and Allie Mae Walker. A devoted
niece, Sarah Ann Fagg, a sister-in-law, Helen Gaines, special relatives, Dr. David and
Marilyn Akins, special nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other loving nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Bell, her daughter, Danielle
Giddens, two sisters, Lillie Mae Fagg and Roberta Jackson, two brothers, Buford
Gaines and Johnny Gaines, Jr., three nieces: Roberta Cannon, Hattie Walker Burke,
Christina Denise Gaines, and one nephew, Johnny Gaines, III.
