Dennis Leonard Akins

Dennis Akins was born on December 27, 1974 in Long Island, New York to Ida Akins and the late Eddie Akins Jr.

The Lord called him home in the early morning of July 31, 2023. Dennis graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1992. He received a degree in Culinary Arts as well as a Masters in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security from Columbia Southern University. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family, watch sports, and tend to his multiple fish tanks. Dennis is a Navy Veteran and enjoyed being a cook at Cracker Barrel where he worked for 10 years.

On October 1, 1996, He was joined by Londa Akins in Holy Matrimony and welcomed two children in their marriage.

He was preceded in death by his father Eddie Akins Jr., his two sisters Blondell Rushing and Norma Akins, his grandparents Elise Akins, Eddie Akins Sr., Nettie McCormick and Luke McCormick and his great nephew Marion Patterson.

He leaves behind his cherished memories. A loving wife, Londa Akins, a daughter Tasia. Akins (Jimmy) and a son Jaleer Akins. His loving mother Ida Akins and a brother Eddie Akins (Sylvia), two grandsons Elias Guyton and Demitrius Grissom, a niece Monique Rushing, a great nephew Avionne Patterson, mother in law Deloris Henry (John), father in law Jonathan Fluitt (Barbara), brother in laws Audrey Fluitt, Travis Fluitt (Cecily), Edward Scott (Tiffany), Nathan Fluitt (Deceased), Terrance Price, and sister in laws Wanda Fluitt and Tiffany Stafford (both deceased). He also leaves a special friend Lisa Collins, a family friend Bennie Ware and a Godson Acie Washington Jr.
