Mr. Darrell Karl Chaires was born July 17, 1959, in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the youngest of eight children born to the parents of the late Mrs. Willie Mae Chaires and Mr. Charlie Chaires. Both parents and four siblings preceded him in death. Darrell departed this life on April 23, 2023, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Darrell, affectionally called "Buddy", was baptized into the Methodist faith and at an early age he gave his life to Christ when he joined St. Phillips A.M.E.
Church in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a member of the Male Choir, and he also sang with the Male Choir at Second Morning Star M.B. Church in Attapulgus, Georgia. He was a devoted, dedicated, and faithful member who believed in serving God by helping others. He found joy in reading and understanding the Bible. His favorite saying was, "In any situation I am a believer in Jesus Christ".
Darrell attended public schools, in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from Leon High School, in
After graduation, he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida but later returned home and picked up where he left off. He was an entrepreneur and maintained excellent skills in construction, lawncare and landscaping. Darrell was previously employed with Espositos and several other Garden and Lawn Centers in the Tallahassee area.
On July 25, 2011, Darrell married the love of his life, Linda Wilson Kendall. They were joined in holy matrimony by Rev. David Grubbs and later renewed their vows at the Harris Family Reunion in 2016.
Darrell is survived by his devoted and supportive wife, Linda Wilson Chaires, one sister and three brothers of Tallahassee, Florida, special caregivers, who cared for him unselfishly until his passing, his niece Mrs. Cashenda Tice (Antonio Ellison) and Mrs.
Nekay Jackson of Tallahassee, Florida, a special cousin Ms. Cleo Taylor of Bainbridge, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins. Darrell's warm presence, great spirit and his generous giving heart for people will always be remembered.
