Curtis Hunter Obituary

Curtis “Lee” Hunter Sr. was born on July 2, 1953 in Tallahassee, Florida. He is the son of the
late Elijah & Mary Hunter. Curtis was the first child of seven children born to his parent’s union.
Curtis brother Edward, 2 sister Kate and Louise, son Curtis Hunter Jr. preceded him in death.

Curtis was educated in Leon County Public Schools and a 1972 graduate of James S. Rickards
High School in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a star football payer who was arguably one of best
running backs at Rickards and the in the city of Tallahassee. Hunter was a versatile athlete who
also played basketball and ran track where he won many local and regional awards. After
graduating high school, he went on to become and Fireman with the Tallahassee Fire Department
for over 22 years.
On Wednesday evening August 17, 2022 God call his beloved child home to rest in Heaven.

His devoted wife of 28 years Lucy Hunter of Bainbridge, Ga; 2 daughters Latoya Hunter and
Yolanda Hunter. Step children Katrina Brunson, Alexander Brunson. Grandchildren; Joseph
Brunson, Roman Cosby, Olivia, Joseph, Kyrin, Messiah and Aubree. Mother, Mary L. Hunter of
Tallahassee, FL; one brother Alfred Hunter (Ether Hunter) three sisters, Sandra Randolph
(Manuel) Bridget Washington (Abraham) of Tallahassee, FL and Vivian Dean of Silver Spring,
MD, one sister-in-law Rachel Hunter of Midway, FL. One brother-in-law Abraham Curry of St.
Petersburg, FL. Seven uncles, Willie Franklin of Stuart, FL, Johnny Franklin (Myrna), Robert
Franklin, of Ft. Pierce, FL, George Franklin (Sonya) of West Germany, Roosevelt Ford (Ruby),

Jerome Ford (Sandra) and Odell Ford all of Tallahassee, FL. Ten aunts, Betty Knight, Dorothy
Latimer, Beatrice Copeland all of Ft. Pierce, FL. Charlie Mae Franklin, Cora Franklin, Mary
Johnson, Alfreda Hunter, Dorothy Ford, Gloria Bryant and Joyce Butler all of Tallahassee, FL;
along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
