Charles Edwin Mock was born to the late Vera L. McCall (née
Mock) and Tillman L. Wright on March 8, 1958 at Riverside
Hospital in Bainbridge, GA. A country boy at heart, he was
raised in Climax, GA by his grandparents Thomas and Essie
Mae Mock. He graduated from Bainbridge High School and
briefly studied at Lane College afterwards.
His friends and family considered him to be a hard
-working,
kind, loving, and funny man who loved God, his family, and the
road. Affectionately called the “human map” by his children,
Charles spent nearly 40 years traveling the United States as an
over the road driver. The last 18 years of his career was with
Marten Transport, where he was inducted into their Million
Mile Club in 2019 and a member of the Presidents Safe Driving
Club.
Charles was called home to be with the Lord on December 2,
2024. He was preceded in death by his mother Vera McCall,
father Tillman (Ethel) Wright, and grandparents Thomas and
Essie Mae Mock. He will be missed by his son Charles
(Taiwan) Freeman; daughter Jocelyn (Roderick) Givens;
granddaughter Alyvia Givens; nephew Adrian (Laverne)
Moore; siblings Brenda (Lee) Glaze, Charles Walker, Sheila
McCall, and Alcenior McCall; step
-father John McCall Jr.; and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
