Alonzo Wells was born on September 26, 1946 to the late Frank Wells and Willie Mae Scott. He was the 11th of 12 children who have all preceded him in death. Alonzo was also preceded in death by his sons, Alonzo Wells, Jr. and Frank Wells. Loving affectionately known as “Jack” accomplished all of his life dreams. He provided for his family with all of his heart and ability. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start and operate several small businesses; Clothing Resale Business, he produced Handmade Property Address Markers, along with his wife, Cynthia they operated the “Do Drop In” Restaurant and Game Room in Attapulgus, Georgia. He was the landlord of several rental properties. His most recent and beloved business was Discount Taxi Service. Loving, also known as “Taxi Man” Jack would get up early and get dressed even when he didn’t feel well. He always wanted to be ready just in case someone needed a ride. As he transported his customers, Jack usually had a word of wisdom, encouragement or a scripture quote to share with his riders, like John 3:16. Alonzo was the father of seven children: Deirdre U. Wells and Alonzo Wells, Jr., from his first marriage to Ada Ruth Jackson. Anthony Wells and Aujanique Glenn. On October 2, 1981 Alonzo married Cynthia Hawkins from Detroit. Their union produced three children: Frank E. Wells, Lorenzo A. Wells and Falecia RE Wells. Alonzo “Jack” Wells leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Cynthia Wells; five children: Deidre U, Wells, Anthony Wells, Lorenzo Wells, Falecia Wells-Singletary and Aujanique Glenn; six grandchild: De’Ondra Smith, Christian Wright, De’Vonte Wright, Alonzo Wells III, Chelsey Singletary and Chase Singletary; one great-granddaughter: Joselyn Wells and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances who will miss him dearly.
